Baguette Ransomware Group Targets French Multinational Schneider Electric

A ransomware group called Hellcat targeted a French multinational corporation, Schneider Electric, in a cyberattack. The group demanded to be paid in baguettes, worth $125,000, or they would leak 40GB worth of stolen private data. Later, they said they would accept cryptocurrency Monero instead. This was an unusual way to stand out in the ransomware market and get attention.

Schneider Electric has experienced multiple cyberattacks in recent years. The group claimed to have over 400,000 rows of user data, but they did not specify why they targeted the company.
