Heather Morgan, accused of her role in laundering some of the 120,000 Bitcoin stolen from Bitfinex by her husband Ilya Lichtenstein, has argued for no more jail time for her involvement. Both Heather and Ilya were arrested in April, and Ilya is facing up to 20 years in prison. Heather has stated that her actions were driven by her love for her husband and their shared belief in cryptocurrencies.
She also highlighted that she is not wealthy and has no prior criminal record. The couple’s trial is expected to begin in October 2022.
